**THE VERMONT COMMISSION ON NATIVE AMERICAN AFFAIRS IS CURRENTLY RECUITING FOR TWO COMMISSIONER OPENINGS**
Are you a Vermont resident? Are you interested in helping to uplift the needs and interests of Vermont’s Native American population? Are you committed to recognizing and strengthening the contributions, heritage, and well-being of Native American Peoples in Vermont?
If you answered yes to all three of these questions, we would like to hear from you!
- We encourage anyone with lived experience or a demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to Native American affairs in the state of Vermont to apply. Tribal citizenship or Native American heritage is not required.
- As per our statute, the Commission prioritizes the appointment of applicants from the four Vermont State Recognized Tribes: the Abenaki Nation of Missisquoi, Elnu Abenaki Tribe, Koasek Traditional Band of the Koas Abenaki Nation, and Nulhegan Band of the Coosuk Abenaki Nation.
- Commissioners are expected to attend and participate in regular meetings and community outreach engagements, collaborating with other Commissioners, staff, and community members virtually and in-person.
- Commissioners qualify for compensation and mileage reimbursement.
